James S
James S

Hello! My name is James T. Sellers. Currently, I am a third year medical student at the University of Arkansas College of Medicine. In tandem to this, I am a recipient of the Health Professions Scholarship Program and recently commissioned officer in the Army. Because of this, I will serve 4 years as a military physician following residency. When it comes to my specialty, I have a strong desire to pursue pediatrics - investing in our world's children has always been a massive passion of mine.

A little bit about my background - I come from a very small town of 188 people. Granted, I went to high school in a nearby larger town, but even so, small town America is very familiar to me! Being a first generation student to attend college presented with many challenges, but, in my opinion, many more opportunities.

I attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. During my time at this university, I was fortunate to experience a whirlwind of different opportunities and experiences. I lived on campus all four of my years, three of which I served as a resident assistant. This role offered the distinct privilege to share life with and mentor those just a few steps behind me. To this day, some of my greatest friendships and memories were garnered during this time as a resident assistant. Other than campus living, I was also an active participant of a Greek organization, intramural sports, campus ministries, and various other organizations - some of which I was able to found and/or hold leadership positions in. For a short time, I was even the university's mascot! Needless to say, so many opportunities were just sitting there, waiting for an eager undergraduate to make the most of them. Fortunately, these opportunities still are there and I hope every student takes FULL advantage of them so they, too, can look back on their college days and smile with pure satisfaction.

Outside of education, I spend my free time in many different ways. Family, friends, and faith are all paramount to me, so spending time with my loved ones and at various Christian functions are recurring ways I choose to fill my time. Video games. Working out. Being a dog dad. Learning how to be a better cook. Practicing mindfulness. These are just a few of the other ways I like to keep myself busy.

I hope now you have a better idea of who and what I am. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity hear YOUR story!
