About James S. - For High School Students
Hello! My name is James, and I am currently a third year medical student at the University of Arkansas College of Medicine. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I am also a Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) recipient and recently commissioned officer in the Army, and will serve 4 years as a military physician following residency. Despite being a first generation student from a small town, I have considerable experience with scholarship applications and interviews. Having spent most of my undergraduate career as a resident assistant, I also have a great deal of experience helping students figure out a direction for their professional careers.
I have helped many students and young adults prepare application materials for job, college, and scholarship opportunities that they have eventually gone on to receive. I have also advised young adults who have considered joining the military. You can trust that I have the experience necessary to give you reliable advice, and that I will listen intently to your story in order to: A) Help you figure out your career/ed direction; and B) Help you tailor your applications to reflect your skills, experiences, and passions.
